I know there is evolution, but how is it possible? I heard whales once walked on land, but how did legs turn into flippers? And why is our appendix growing shorter? Why do we change and how does our bodies and children know how to change?

The math problem is:
The length of a rectangle is 3 more than twice its width. The perimeter is 48 feet. Find the width.
This is how you solve it:
L = 2W + 3
P = 2L + 2W = 48

2(2W + 3) + 2W = 48
4W + 6 +2W = 48
6W + 6 = 48
6W = 42
W = 7

I'm a little confused when it comes to this part...
2(2W + 3) + 2W = 48
^ i don't understand where you get this 2 from?

can someone please clarify this to me for 10 points =)

Thnk you
Happy n healthy new year :]

Please, can anybody tell me how to figure out the problems that my teacher gave to my class to review for an AP chemistry Test shes giving us a in a couple of days and I have no clue how to solve these problems.

The following problems are:

1) Calculate the molarity of C2H5OH in a water solution that is prepared by mixing 50 ml of C2H5OH with 100 ml of Hs0 at 20 degrees Celsius. The density of the C2H5OH is 0.789 g/ml at 20 degrees Celsius.

2)What is the molarity of a solution of 50 g of propanol (CH3CH2CH2OH) in 152 ml water, if the density of water is 1.0 g/ml.

3). A solution containing 296.6g of Mg(NO3)2 per liter has a density of 1.114 g/ml. The molarity of the solution is what?

Giordano's Pizza Shop is famous for its spectacular Giordano's Giant, a large gourmet pizza that's big enough to feed 16 people! There is a base charge for the plain pizza, and then an additional charge per topping ordered from the list of 20 possible items. All the toppings are priced equally.

A Giordano's Giant pizza ordered with 2/5 of the possible toppings will cost $46.50. One with 30% of the possible toppings will cost $41.80. Using that information, answer the following questions:

Find an equation that expresses the total cost of a Giordano's Giant pizza in terms of the number of toppings ordered.

How much would a Giant pizza with all the possible toppings cost?

If a customer ordered a Giant pizza that cost $55.90, what percent of the toppings did she order?
