If I know the diameter of a circle, is it possible to find coordinates on it? For my project I have 10 points evenly on the circumference of a circle that I need to find out the coordinates (x,y) for. Is there a formula? Thanks!

We did a lab in school today on enthalpy and the heat of solutions. There was a question about why we shouldn't use the thermometer to stir the solution in the calorimeter (ours was just a makeshift one, a tiny styrofoam cup). So, why is it wrong to use a thermometer to stir the solution?

OK, this is gonna be a doozy. I hope I don't lose too much credibility (if I ever had any) for asking this, but the idea occurred to me, so here goes. :)

We, as a planet, have an abundance of greenhouse gasses right now, right? They are bad and we not only need to cut down on their production, but it would be good to get rid of some we've already produced. So, why couldn't we build a giant tube or hose? One end would be attached to something in space (unmanned) and the other would be attached to something flying in the correct level of our atmosphere. We could just vacuum out some of the gasses, couldn't we?

Let the berating begin! :) But thanks to all serious answers. :)

1. Solve the equation and select the letter of the correct answer.

0 = k^2 – 12k + 35
The solution set is {5, 7}.

The solution set is {–5, –7}.

The solution set is {5, –7}.

The solution set is {–5, 7}.

3. Solve the equation and select the letter of the correct answer.

u^5 – 13u^3 + 36u = 0
The solution set is {0, 2, 3}.

The solution set is {–3, –2, 0}.

The solution set is {–3, –2, 2, 3}.

The solution set is {0, –2, 2, –3, 3}.

5. Find an equation in standard form with integral coefficients that has the given solution set.

{–1, 5}

x^2 – 4x – 5 = 0

x^2 + 4x – 5 = 0

x^2 – 4x + 5 = 0

x^2 – x + 5 = 0

With our current reliance on fossile fuels and other forms of stored energy (coal, chemical) we are releasing excess waste heat (among other things) into the atmosphere. Looking for alternative 'green' energy sources is a great ideal, but my feel this could further impact the environment.

Assuming for argument that we can build a large mirror array in space and send captured solar energy safely to earth. That amounts to a new input of energy into our (closed?) system. How will we deal with the excess heat generated as a by product of doing work with that energy? Is there a way for us to efficiently radiate that heat into space?
