OK, Here's the thing. I have 5 trained monkeys and they like to run with scissors. I know that there is some rule that says that you aren't supposed to run with scissors in the house, but my question is, does this same rule apply to monkeys and if so, what will be the legal ramifications? Should I be getting lawyers for my monkeys?

problem:
consider the function y(x), given by
y(x)=summation (0 to infiniti) [x^(2n)]/(1-2n)

find a power series expansion of (integral symbol) y(x) dx

so far i have...
y(x) = ∑ [x^(2n)] / (1-2n)...........n=0 to infinity

y(x) = 1 + [ (x^2) / (-1) ] + [ (x^4) / (-3) ] + [ (x^6) / (-5) ] + ...

= 1 - (x^2) - (1/3)*(x^4) - (1/5)*(x^6) - . . .

∫ y(x) dx = x - [ (x^3) / 3 ] - [ (x^5) / (3*5) ] - [ (x^7) / (5*7) ] - . . .

my problem is that i can't find the shorthand sigma notation for this result and i don't know how. it's really bothering me. your help is much appreciated. thank you

My crazy relative is trying to prove she is the illegitimate child of my paternal uncle (as well as my maternal half-sister). She talked an equally nutty relative (my uncle's legitimate daughter) into doing DNA test. The result was (according to them) that there is a 17% likelihood of their being related. Everyone involved is of the same ethnicity and national origin.

Am I right in understanding that this result is essentially "random"?

Please -- I am looking for a serious scientific answer. This is not a joke, and the accusation is very hurtful to my uncle's widow, who is over 80.
