A question is a request for knowledge that you otherwise would not know if you did not inquire it.

It is based on a lack of certain knowledge and is the proper form of transport (though not the proper term; that would be an inquiry) to acquire said knowledge.

normally it is inquisitiveness as to what one does not understand -like a three year old looking at a severed head in the road after a traffic accident or other event for a head to be lying in the road ,WILL SHE BE ALRIGHT MUMMY? that is a question.
