Well, without the rain, all the trees,/plants, etc. would die, the animals would dehydrate, etc. Obvious reasons. It's pretty much just like asking "why is rain important in the city?" it rains everywhere, even in the desert, to help the environment survive. I live in New Mexico, and yesterday we got snow and rain.

Hope that helped :)

Many (but not all) rain forests have soil that does not hold moisture well, and the plants need constant rain to survive. Also, the rain quickly biodegrades fallen vegetable matter, which adds nutrients. The soil may not be able to supply nutrients on a long-term basis.

This is the reason why cutting down rain forest is often so tragic: The fragile soil, deprived of the forest cover, erodes and quickly becomes nutrient-poor. Although the rain forest is cut down for farming, farming does not work .

The rain is important so that the rain forest can remain a rain forest, i.e. a place where there is enough rain to have a forest. There is no direct danger that the rain will disappear from the rain forest but that the forest disappear from human deforestation.

Because we define a rainforest as a forest with a minimum of between 68 and 78 inches of rainfall annually. Without this rain, it isn't a rainforest.
