A student of ECSU going on thanksgiving holiday drove a distance of 100 km due north from EC downtown for 50 mins, he stopped at a gas station to buy gas and use the bathroom for 10 mins, he then turned east and traveled a distance of 50 km for 20 mins. He stopped and visited a high school friend for 20 mins. Then he continued his journey by traveling south, another 50 km for 20 mins. And then turned west and traveled 50 km for 15 mins before getting home.

(a) What is the average speed for the entire journey is m/s?
*Could you please show how you got it?

(b) What is the magnitude of the average velocity in m/s?
*Please show work.

I apologize for not following the community standards here, but there is a question that disturbs me. So far, I see that I am the only one who has answered it and I'd appreciate if some of our more knowledgeable people answer it. It's only a few items down from this one. It's:
"Are the Van Allen belts dangerous?"
This is a student who has been told by his teacher to prove the moon landings were hoaxed.

This has me hopping mad. Tell me if you agree with my sentiment or if I just need to chill out.

I was asked to find the experimental weight of a meterstick on a support with a mass on one side.

heres what i did:
Torque left= Torque right
(Fw)(Pivot Point- Center of Gravity)=(Weight of Mass)(Location of mass-Pivot point)

(Fw)(.65-.499)=(2.1152322)(.732-.65)
.151Fw=.300056792
Fw=1.987131073 N

The actual weight is 1.28184 N. So the percent error is like 55% which is way to high. As long as i did the problem right my teacher might understand. Please help me!!

Scientists, mainly cosmoligists, say that matter cannot travel at a speed faster than that of light. why does light travel at the EXACT speed that matter can travel as fast as? Also, what i think, is that since time slows down the faster than you go, in other wordsa the speed of light, that light experiences no time, so if you did go that fast, you wouldnt age. another thing is could it be that light tries to travel faster, at infinite KPH, but it can't because of the speed it has reached. can someone pleasen explain this to me?
