I *need* to figure this baby out, and I'm not having much luck...can you guys walk me through it in as much detail as you can muster? I can really, really use it! Here it is:

"A plane is capable of flying at a speed of 180 km/hr in still air. The pilot takes off from an airfield and heads due north according to the plane's compass. After 30 minutes of flight time, the pilot notices that, due to the wind, the plane has actually traveled 80km at an angle 5 degrees east of north.
a) What is the wind velocity?
b) In what direction should the pilot have headed to reach the intended destination?"

(levitation, telekinesis, whatever else people keep asking in this section) come as an accessory to something else (the Buddhist illumination, shamanistic rebirth, asceticism in Christianity but not only) and trying to develop 'the accessory', the effect only, without the found, the cause, is a wrong attempt?

Again, I'm not talking about religions, but the 'spiritualistic' perspective one can have without being affiliated to a specific doctrine.
Mind over matter, spirit above flesh... stuff like these?

Let S and T be (not necessarily disjoint) subsets of a finite group G. Prove that either G = ST or |G| >= |S| + |T|.

I just can't get a grip on where to start with that problem.

While the Sun undoubtedly impacts us every second (in ways both seen a positive and negative), what effect is imposed on us by the energy of those other stars light-years away?

While it does take longer for their energy to reach us, it is undoubtedly arriving here (no matter how delayed); as such does the heat, light, magnetic waves, radio waves, ect, have any notable impact on us whatsoever? What about their gravitational pulls, no matter how far away?

Thank you in advance for your answers, I have been able to find little online about this (though I may be asking Google the wrong question).

there would be a comet striking the earth that was big enough to destroy all life on the planet in the next 12 hours. it is big enough to knock earth completely off of its orbit, causing it to fall into the sun within a week after impact.

how would you react to hearing this?
