For sure THEY DO. Animals have their own way of expression of their emotions that may be a bit different as the humans do but they do have their own way of CRYING.

The loud calling sounds of separated baby animals, the bizarre noises made by some animals upon loss of a "close member" of the group, the sounds produced by a hurt animal, etc. I believe are some sort of CRYING THE ANIMAL WAY.

In basing TEARS to determine a cry, many animals do have capability to produce tears but are mostly as a protective function. As scientists believe ,only HUMANS have the ability to produce EMOTIONAL TEARS due to lack of evidences that can prove that other animals do shed emotional tears just as humans.

Many anecdotal stories of "tearful" DOG during some emotional situations had been told. I had personally observed that as well. I was a dog-loving young girl way back in the past. There were few family pet dogs that we knew were too emotional that easily SHED TEARS once scolded, and would even refuse to eat for a day or two right after "CRYING". Another dog was seen crying when its partner passed away.

And believe it or not: most sheep shed tears when butchered, I personally observed a few of that.Well, for the meantime, we cannot argue with the findings of the scientists. We cannot figure out if those are emotional tears or could be some form of defense reactions or anything else.

However, to answer your question, DEFINITELY animals cry in their own way of expression; whether they cry with tears or not, they do have their unique way of expressing their emotions and surely they do have their own way of CRYING different from humans and maybe beyond human's understanding to some extent.

Some animals do. Like dogs whine and animals can show emotion. It depends what you mean.

Yes. They do. When one of my customers left her dog alone for the day and the dog went into a kennel, the dog's eyes just kept watering.
When the owner came to pick the dog up, the dog was ecstatic.
