1. If the larger denominator is a multiple of the smaller denominator, the larger denominator is the least common denominator.

2. If either denominator is a prime number, multiply the two denominators together to find the least common denominator.

3. Look at the larger denominator, and try the next multiple of the larger denominator until you find a number that is a common multiple of both denominators.

Fractions are equivalent if in fractions a/b and c/d ac=bd.

3/8 and 12/32.

3*32=96
8*12=96

So these fractions are equivalent.

find LCM of the denominators and make denominators the same by multiplying
then check which numerator is bigger, the bigger the numerator , the bigger the fraction
