A box rests on the (horizontal) back of a truck. The coefficient of static friction between the box and the surface on which it rests is 0.24 while the coefficient of kinetic friction is 0.12. What maximum distance can the truck travel (starting from rest and moving horizontally with constant acceleration) in 3.0 s without having the box slide?

Behave like a single, moving magnet, as in generating an current in a wire, etc? Assuming they were close enough together, and energized in rapid succession? A series of electromagnets wouldn't experience the 'drag' that a moving magnet would since there's no motion. Would the electrons in the wire be 'fooled'?

i am trying to make a 3%
-salt / NaCl
-sugar/ C6H12O6
-asprin/acetylsalicylic acid / C9H8O4
with 500 mL of each water.

How would i make it? would i use 3% of 500 ml (15 grams) of each solute and dissolve it into water?
if not, how much solute would i need and how would i do it?
i'm doing this for a science fair w/ a partner, and the teacher didn't really help us much...so help please!

Why couldn't rocket escape black hole? I keep hearing stuff about how the escape velocity is the speed of light and nothing can go the speed of light. So? The Earth's escape velocity is seven miles per second and none of the probes we sent out into the solar system ever went seven miles per second. Instead, they gradually speed up over time to get away from gravity. Likewise, why couldn't a probe with lots of rocket fuel be sent into the event horizon of a black hole and then fire the rockets to escape?

Solve the triangle: a = 5, b = 8, c = 12

I found three angles, but their sum come out to 94.11 when it should be 180.

Where am I doing it wrong? I used the law of cosine.

Thanks.

The question is this:

Find the linearization (linear approximation) of f(x) = ln(x) at a =1, then use it to approximate ln (0.98) and ln (1.05). Draw the linearization at a=1, are your approximations over or under approximations? Check on your calculator, how close are you?

I did the first part, I got y=x as the linear approximation. I just don't know how to use this to approximate ln (0.98) and ln (1.05). Would it be 0.98 and 1.05? I'm so confused. Please help! All work should be shown since I need to understand this completely and not just know the answer. Thanks in advance!

Also, I forgot the other question. It is as follows:

2. What function would you use to create a linear approximation for (8.06) ^ (2/3)? Approximate the value using linear approximation or differentials.

Now, I'm thinking that we know the value for 8^ (2/3) and it would just be (8 + x) ^ (2/3) but I'm not sure if this is right and what to do from here

1. Let {a_n} from n = 1 to infinity be a bounded sequence. For each n that is an element of the natural number set N, define
y_n = sup{a_k: k>=n}.

(i) Prove that {y_n} from n = 1 to infinity is decreasing and bounded from below, hence convergent.
(ii) Let A be the limit of the sequence {y_n} from n = 1 to infinity. Prove that {a_n} from n = 1 to infinity has a subsequence that converges to A.

2. Use item 1 to prove that every Cauchy sequence is convergent.

I read a news story online today about a woman who said she woke up during an operation, she said she couldn't move but could feel the surgeons working. A court awarded the woman 11,000 dollars for her pain and suffering. Now whether or not her story is true, I don’t know. I mean there is really no way to prove either way if she woke up. So, my question is, is this possible? Can you wake up in surgery, be totally aware but paralyzed? I know If this were to happen, it would be very rare, but is it possible?
