in my physics class we're building hovercrafts. They look like this: http://www.amasci.com/amateur/hovercft.html
my question is, is it advantageous to have a longer or shorter plastic "skirt"? and the whole in the center(like the doughnut hole), should it be bigger or smaller?

Has it ever occurred to science, Geology. We use oil to cool things, Engines, Friction while Drilling, Oil is a useful dissipater of heat and a lubricant to friction and rubbing. Could it not be possible Oil, or Fossil Fuels Cool the Earths Core, The molten mass that erupts through cracks and shifts of the Earth, Could It Not Be Possible? It was brilliantly figured out we need to put something back down the huge under ground chambers. Disposal costs are very high. it wouldn't be to far fetched to think some 55 gallon drums of substance could have been used as a Earths Filler. Really some Nasty Chemicals’ were not uncommon here in Texas in the 70's and 80's. Any way huge chunks of earth is falling in on it's self 800 yards by 500 yards huge cavities filled with rancid water. The growing and shrinking of mountains on earth’s tectonic plates, and fault lines would in my mind explain today’s environmental changes globally and thus we assume. It just seems to my thinking without oil in the Earth the Hotter the earth is Going to Get!

I was trying to solve a question and couldn't find the answer. Can someone please tell me where I am going wrong?

Question:
Water is leaking out of an inverted conical tank at a rate of 10000cm^3/min at the same time water is being pumped into the tank at a constant rate. The tank has height of 6m and the diameter at the top is 4m. If the water level is rising at a rate of 20cm/min when the height of the water is 2m, find the rate at which water is being pumped into the tank.

My answer:
h/6=r/2
r=h/3

v=(1/3)pi*r^2*h
v=(1/3)pi(h^3/9)

dv/dt = (pi*h^2)/9 * dh/dt
dv/dt = [pi* 40000 * 20] / 9
dv/dt=279252 cm^3/min

Can someone tell me where I am going wrong? Also, please do it using the same method and not the tan-vertex one.

This is a crazy word problem, I don't even know where to start.

A large institution is preparing lunch menuse containing foods A and B. Food A contains 1 unit of fat per oz, 2 of carbs per oz, and 1 of protein per oz. Food B contains 1 unit of fat per oz, 1 unit of carbs per oz and 1 unit of protein per oz. Each lunch must provide at least 6 units of fat per serving, no more than 7 units of protein, and at least 10 units of carbs. The institution can purchase food A for $0.12 per oz and food B for $0.08 per oz. How many oz of each food should a serving contain to meet the dietary requirements at the least cost?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance and a quick thanks to all the top contributers out there.

We are putting impact indicators on our hasselblads at our rental facility, and the ones listed at mcmaster-carr are categorized by g-force sensitivity. on the items that are for single use, the items from 0-10 lbs have a default of 100 G, and i am wanting the resettable ones. does anyone know what i should get for a hasselblad camera. they are under 10lbs. i dont want it to be too sensitive so that we have to investigate when someone just bumps up aginst something.. but i need to know when an item is dropped. any suggestions?
