if f(x)= -5x^3-5x+4 then f(1)= -6

The tangent line approximation to the function f(x) at x=1 is L(x)=____________

Determine a value of x near 1 such that L(x)= -12.00 ___________

This is going to be hard to describe without an image but I'll try my best. Imagine there is a parallelogram ABCD. AB is the slant length on one side and CD is the slant length on the other.
So BD is the top and AC is the base.

The base (AC) is 10cm. The slant length is 8cm. The perpendicular height from base to top is 7 cm.

What is the area of the parallelogram?
I think its 84cm squared but would like confirmation.

Now the harder part (at least for me). What is the perpendicular distance from AB to CD?
Does it just remain 12 (the base)?

okay I just got my exam back and finals are around the corner and I missed the question on Ohm's law and only got half credit for the essay. The question was..Which of the following is correct according to Ohm's Law? A. I=R/V
B. Current is directly proportional to the resistance
C. R=V=1
D. The more intense the stimulus the more voltage changes.
Those are the answers the formula for Ohm's law is I=V/R
I put b. and got it wrong because Current is only inversely proportional to the resistance where current is directly proportional to voltage.
Anyways I believe I was told A. was the correct answer, how can this be? It makes no sense whatsoever. I was hoping someone could explain this to me or atleast explain why the other three are wrong mainly D.

I put this under biology because I wasn't sure it is for my Physiology class.

When you kick a soccer ball (football) with the inside of your right foot, it curves from right to left. The same is true of a volley ball and tennis ball.

But when you do the same thing to a beach ball, it curves from left to right (opposite direction).

Can anyone explain why?

On March 19 the asteroid deviated from Polaris only slightly, while its visible size increased considerably. The astronomers announced that doomsday arrived.

Fortuantely astronomers were wrong. On March 20 the asteroid missed the Earth by mere 100 km.

Two days later astronomers said that right now they could not track the asteroid, because it was passing the bright disk of Sun, and was invisible.

What was velocity of the astroid with respect to the center of Earth at the closest approach?

I have the fear and it is ruining my life. I know spiders are harmless little creatures, they play their part in life by helping out with the fly problem, and I don't hate them. This is a serious question guys...I don't want to go under hypnotism but I will if there is no other way.
Any ideas how I can conquer the fear?

Hello,

Currently in calc we're learning about cylindrical and spherical coordinates.

One of the questions that I cannot figure out is finding the volume of a cylinder with height H and radius R using SPHERICAL coordinates not cylindrical. Assuming that phi is the angle in the xy-plane and theta the azimuthal angle from the z-axis. So the format would be ∫∫∫ p^2 sinθ dp dθ dφ . So I think the first integral; the limits of phi should be from 0 to 2π but the next two I don't know.

Any help would be appreciated

thanks

When NaCl dissolves in water, it dissociates into its constituent ions; of which are attracted to the polar moments of the water molecule. We know this because the solution conducts electrical currents. If a strong anode and a strong cathode were placed into the solution, would the ions (although partly attracted to the water itself) trend to move to the respectve anode, cathode?

Would the Na+ move to area of the solution with anegative charge, and the Cl- move to the opposite end of the solution? If this can be done, could one evaporate the water and be left with Na metal, and Cl2 gas?

or is the thought process by this totally wack. any help would be appreciated.

When the flight patterns of these chemtrail releasing aircraft are investigated the FAA will claim that they have no flight schedule information on that particular craft in the sky at that time.

So it is a Government flight.

With so many of these chemtrails criss-crossing our skies can't any independent organization go up and take a direct sample right in the chemtail itself for analysis?

They are not contrails as those are short lived condensation.

These chemtrails stay all day and spread across the sky for hours and hours.

So, what are they exposing society to? What are we breathing? What is raining down on our bodies?

It is time we had real answers
