okay I just got my exam back and finals are around the corner and I missed the question on Ohm's law and only got half credit for the essay. The question was..Which of the following is correct according to Ohm's Law? A. I=R/V
B. Current is directly proportional to the resistance
C. R=V=1
D. The more intense the stimulus the more voltage changes.
Those are the answers the formula for Ohm's law is I=V/R
I put b. and got it wrong because Current is only inversely proportional to the resistance where current is directly proportional to voltage.
Anyways I believe I was told A. was the correct answer, how can this be? It makes no sense whatsoever. I was hoping someone could explain this to me or atleast explain why the other three are wrong mainly D.

I put this under biology because I wasn't sure it is for my Physiology class.

see that's what I thought but for some reason she put A as the correct answer I don't know what to do about. after eliminating A and C. I took a guess between the other 2 even though I had the opposite in my essay. What to do what to do guess I should ask her.

yes tiger b it is. the problem is it is that time of the semester where it seems like every class piles on extra assignments, quizes, not to mention I have 6 exams, and everything kind of does blur together. I guess it is not really about learning, UNFORTUNATELY, the way it is set up at my school it fosters competition instead of learning. Yes, it is terrible. I Love to learn so it is even more terrible for me but I have to make the grade because competition is tight. A person pretty much has to have a 4.0 to get accepted into the program that I am applying for because there are a limited number of seats, I have a 3.8 so it's a lot of stress and hoping that others do bad isn't that a terrible reality that I have to face.

Thankyou for answering this question I received an email from my proffesor and she told me there was no correct answer because some of the test had the wrong formula on it, phew..thought I had it all wrong. Thanks again

A voltage source, V, drives an electric current, I , through resistor, R, the three quantities obeying Ohm's law: V = IR.
Ohm's law states that, in an electrical circuit, the current density within a region of a conductor is proportional to the conductivity of that conductor and the electric field within that region, or, more commonly, the current passing through a conductor between two points is directly proportional to the potential difference (i.e. voltage drop or voltage) across the two points, and inversely proportional to the resistance between them.
Where I is the current in amperes, V is the potential difference between two points of interest in volts, and R is a constant, measured in ohms (which is equivalent to volts per ampere), and is called the resistance. The potential difference is also known as the voltage drop, and is sometimes denoted by E or U instead of V.

B)current is proportional to the conductivity of the conductor not reistance.
C) The formula is V=IR . R (resistance) can't equal V (voltage)
D) Is answered in this statement - When sufficiently high voltages are applied to a resistor, forcing a high current to flow through it, the device is no longer ohmic because its resistance, when measured under such electrically stressed conditions, is different (typically greater) from the value measured under standard conditions

Ohms law -> V = I * R

By this, A is definately wrong. By this definition, B is also wrong (the wrong formula in A shows current directly proportional to resistance, which is wrong). C just plain doesn't make any sense and D is true only if you consider a "stimulus" to be "current".

Out of these options, I would say D is correct under the assumption that stimulus = current. (Ohm's law really defines the there properties of electrical current under a set of known conditions, I wouldn't consider a stimulus possible in this equation... I am an electrical engineer though).

See that's your problem right there, you don't even know why this is being used.

Ohm's law has to do with resistance and potential of a neuron. it's explaining energy of a neuron in PHYSICAL terms. That means you'd get a better answer in Physics.

R ~ V / I R = ok * V / I, the position ok = proportionality consistent. so , ok = I * R / V ok = 6 * 8 / 40 8 ok = a million so , the resistance of the 2d circuit is R = ok * V / I = a million * 128 / 8 R = 16.
