The number of times a cricket chirps in a minute is a function of the temperature. You may use this formula:

n = .25n + 40

to determine the number of chirps, n, a cricket makes in a minute when the temperature is f degrees in fahrenheit. If you want to estimate the temperature by counting cricket chirps, it is easier to use the following form of the equation:

t = .25n + 40

We recently found this caterpillar crawling along the drive way. We havenever seen anything like it and the kids wantto know what it is, We put it in a bug catcher with some grass and it seems to be forming some sort of web around the grass. it is actually starting to look like a cocoon. when he is spread out, he is probably about 10015 cm's long and about 1.5 cm's in width. he is very hairy and looks like he has spikes on him. he is mostly brown but has these yellow dots on his back. his little legs look like little suckers. Does anyone have any idea what it is?
