Watching the huge clouds of smoke when a space shuttle takes off just looks like a lot of pollution. Also their emissions when they are traveling around space. Isn't that bad for the environment?

Okay like i get you first find the derivative of the terms provided, but where do you put dy/dx? is it when you find the derivative of y you automatically put dy/dx to be mulitplied to it right? like for example.......xy+y^2=2 get x(dy/dx)+y+2y(dy/dx)=0 after isolating it and everything i get -y/(2y+x) is this right?
IF soo.... Im asked to find the second derivative of it...so after i use the quotient rule i get (2y+x)(-1)-(y+1)(-y)(dy/dx)/(2y+x)^2 if thats right how come i put dy/dx by the derivative of g(x)? can someone please help me out? i really really appreciate it

A chemistry question: How do I convert a solution of x% v/v (by volume) aqueous solution into y% v/v?

To make my question more clear, say I have a 50% v/v aqueous ammonium hydroxide solution. How would I determine how much water to add to it to change it to 2.5% v/v aqueous solution?

I do not want an answer to the ammonium hydroxide question. I want a process to follow to figure out this type of problem. Thanks.

1. f(x) = (x+5)/(x-4)

My answer:

f^-1 (x) = (4x + 5) / (x-1)

Domain of f and range of f^-1 = (- inf , 4) U (4, inf)
Domain of f^-1 and range of f = (- inf , 1) U (1, inf)

2. f(x) = x^2 -2, x
My answer:

f^-1 (x) = sqrt (x + 2)

Domain of f and range of f^-1 = (- inf , 0 ]
Domain of f^-1 and range of f = [ -2 , 0 )

Am I right? Thanks.

Solve exactly and approximately to 3 decimal places.

1. log 3 (x+5) + log 3 (x-3) = 2

Log 3 is log base of 3.

My answer: x = 4

2. 3^(5x-1) = 81

My answer: x = 1

3. 2log 2 (3x+2) - log 2 (x) = 6

Log 2 is log base of 2.

My answer: x = 2^(3x-4)

4. 3^(4x-3) = 100

My answer: x = (ln 100 + ln 3 (3) ) / ln 3 (4)
x = 1.7980

5. log 5 (x+8) + log 5 (x+4) = 1

log 5 is log base of 5

My answer: x = - 3
