A magnetic field has a magnitude of 1.20E-3 T, and an electric field has a magnitude of 4.70E3 N/C. Both fields point in the same direction. A positive 1.8 µC charge moves at a speed of 3.40E6 m/s in a direction that is perpendicular to both fields. Determine the magnitude of the net force that acts on the charge.

A mass, which is connected to a string, is placed on a frictionless surface. At the end of the string there is a 1N weight. The string is guided by a frictionless pulley, so that the 1N weight is suspended on air and it is not in contact with any surface.

a) What must be the tension on the string so that the mass slides on the frictionless surface at a rate of 1.45m/s^2?

b) What is the value of the mass if the tension of the string is found to be 1.5N and the mass is now at rest?
