Imagine you have toothpicks layed out like this:

__ __ __
|__ |__|__|__
............|__|__|

Now only moving two toothpicks, how can you create 4 equal boxes. You can only move two toothpicks, and they cant lay on top of each other, ect. (NOTE: The periods are just so that everything lines up. There have nothing to do with the problem)

After about half an hour working on this, I came up with something, but i think it would count as laying them on top of them. Anyone else come up with something I'm not seeing?

NOTE: This is just a for fun thing, my teacher gave us to work on over the weekend, not for homework or test. Thanks everyone.

Two sisters who live 500 miles apart decide to meet at the halfway point for a visit. Joanne leaves at 11 and travels 50 mph. At noon, Sue leaves travels at 60 mph. Who will reach the halfway point first, and how much longer will she have to wait for her sister?

I just need the basic set up equation. We have to make up our own equation and solve it. I'm not sure though on how to set it up.

Look at it, it's not in any sensible shape. I asked one of my friends this question, and they said it is because there are spaces reserved for undiscovered elements. At this, I asked him how they know about these elements if they are undiscovered.

He didn't have an answer to this, maybe you do?

y(t) = e^(t/2) * cos(2t) , 0
so i typed:

i have a problem. a vector has an x-component of -25 units and y -component of 40.unit, find the magnitude and direction of this vector

i did this problem like
i drew from where they started to forward the left to get -25 units, then go up 40units
|
| 40 units
|
<-------------------
-25 units
magnitude is square root ((-25)^2 +40^2) = 47.2 units by pythagorean theorem

i have a diifficult to understand the angle , because i look the answer on the back i got the right answer but i dont know that is illegal method to do it

tan x = 40/-25
x = tan^-1 (40/-25) = -57.9

angle is 180+ - 57.9 = 122.1 degree
i dont know why i added 180 degree to that answer, please helps me out. thank you

Is it just me or the sun used be less harmful and not that strong? When I was growing up, I don't remember the sun being that sharp and "biting". I remember being able to look at the sun for a short period but now even sunglasses are not helping and sometimes in the morning when I go to work, I cannot even look towards east because the sun is so strong and blinding. Is it the sun or something is happening to the atmosphere, so it doesn't protect us much anymore as it used to?

I am given a compound. It is C3H2F2.. with the 3 carbons being double bonded to each other. The questions wants me to indicate the type of orbitals on each atom used to form each bond. I am not sure if I am right but I know the first and third carbon use sp2 orbitals to bond to hydrogen (s orbital) and fluorine (which I am not sure what orbital it is to bond to carbon). the middle carbon uses sp orbitals. I'm really confused as to what orbitals fluorine uses to bond to carbon and if the rest of my work is correctly done? please help!!
