To get rid of the decimal point, multiply both numbers by 10.
That gives 12000 / 25.
You could now do long division, but with a number such as 25 there is a quicker way.
1000 / 25 = 40, and therefore 12000 / 25 is 12 times as many, namely 12*40 = 480.

In this case forget the decimal for a moment and divide 1200 by 25 then when you get 48 you add 1 zero to your answer (480) becuase you have 1 decimal place.

If you had had 2 decimal places like 1200 divided by 0.48 you would have taken:
1200 / 48 = 25
and added 2 zeros at the end to get 2500

you start by making the numbers easier to work with, for example: 1200=12*100 or 2.5=5/2.

so now you have: (12*100)/(5/2)

12*2*20=12*40=10*40+2*40=
=400+80=480.
