The book states that you use both arithmetic and geometric sequences to solve this. the numerators hav a arithmetic sequence 1,3,5,7.. add 2 AND the denominators have a geometric sequence 2,4,8,16 multiply 2..the book states the formula for arithmetic sequence is a+(n-1)d
and geometric is ar^n-1
the aswer the book gives is 2n-1/2n
i don't get how they got 2n for the demoninator??
2^1*2^n-1=2n shouldn;t this =4n, y is 2()2) not done ???

I figured a SD for NFL quarterback Carson Palmer the, last 3 years of Total Yards thrown per year (2004, 2005, 2006).
Mean: 3589.33
Standard Deviation: 496.25
This may sound stupid, but:
Can someone explain the 68%, 96%, & 99.7%? Where i'm getting confused is that 1 SD gives a range of 4085.58 to 3093.08, but his highest year was 4035. is the 68, 96,99 a probability or an actual range of the numbers taken to get the mean?

It was about a foot and a half tall. Had yellow feet, a black beak, and had feathers that were brown, black, and white- as you can see. It was in my yard in Central New Jersey. I know it eats other birds because it was chasing a smaller bird and they both crashed into my window. The smaller one sadly died and is lying on my neighbors grass. Does anybody know what it is or looks like? Just curious. Thank youu!

I was pot free 10 days before the test. I smoked 2 bowels and two weeks prior to that I smoked 4 times a day in three days. I bouht some stuff at GNc before the test. 4 Days later they called me in for orientation. They are paying me for it to. I don't see why they would pay me for it if they didn't get the results yet...... What do you think.

Ok, so I'm starting Cal. 2 and I'm already lost

Given the integral ln(2x+1)dx, how do I get the answer, which is: 1/2(2x+1)ln(2x+1) -x +c?

u = ln 2x+1
du = 2/2x+1 dx
dv= dx
v= x

integral ln (2x+1)= x ln (2x+1) - integral 2x/(2x+1)dx
= x ln (2x+1) - integral 1- 1/(2x+1)dx
= x ln (2x+1) - x + ln |2x+1| + c
then I'm lost....

Assuming that the human body can survive a maximum continuous acceleration of 6.36 m/s2, calculate the minimum time in which a space ship can accelerate from 0 m/s to 3.0 ×107 m/s, that is, to a velocity that is 10% the velocity of light.

I have no idea how to even start this problem. I know im required to use one of the four basic formulas but i am unsure of which and how to go about doing it.. Thanks

Mass=4kg(M), which is immobile and is standing on the equillibrium point,is attached on a spring and it is h=2 m away from the floor.We shoot from the floor another mass m=4 kg to the mass M with a velocity U= 7 m/s.The two masses collide (headon collision) elastically.After the collision the mass m returns to the floor the moment the mass M passes from the equilibrium point for the first time after the collision.

Find:
1.the momentum of the mass M hardly after the collision.
2.the spring constant k
3.the maximum height from the floor of the mass M during the oscillation

Can somebody show me how to set up this problem?

A uniform electric field of magnitude 270 V/m is directed in the positive x direction. A +14^(-6) C charge moves from the origin to the point (x,y) = (20.0 cm, 50.0 cm)

A) What is the change in the potential energy of the charge field system?

B) Through what potential difference does the charge move?

I've solved part B (-54 volts), but I'm stumped as to how to tie it in with part A. Can somebody help?
