A surveyor was unable to directly measure the height of the mountain, so he set up his equipment at the base of the mountain at two different locations, A and B, 1500 meters apart from each other. He then measured the angle of elevation to the top of the mountain from each of these locations. The angle of elevation from point A is 20 degrees. The angle of elevation from point B is 32 degrees. Find the height of the mountain to the nearest meter.

This is kind of hard to explain without a picture but here goes...

Two poles measuring 3 feet and 6 feet stand vertically in a field. Wires are attached from the top of each pole to the bottom of the other. A third wire is then run vertically from teh meeting of the first two wires to the ground. What is the length of this wire?

It looks like it would be 2.5 feet. But I really have no idea how to figure this out.

6 I \
I \ I 3ft
I x\ I
I / x \ I
----------------------Not a great pic I know...It's pretty much two triangles....and i am trying to find out the length of the x line that connects the two. Any help would be appreciated...

I was just reading on wikipedia about radiation poisoning.(very interesting i recommend a gander at it) Anyway it lists different levels of exposure and survivial rates and i was wondering that if say you got exposed to 100Sv or something very high to a small area like say your finger would that kill you? Also where is the line drawn between maximum amount of area exposed and death.

In the mid-Atlantic (say from Long Island south to the Chesapeake Bay), when do autumn leaves typically reach their peak? When do you get to the point where most of the trees start to look winter-bare? And, how much variance in the peak dates is there from one year to the next?

(Here in Western Oregon's Willamette Valley it tends to start in early October, peaks just before Halloween, and the deciduous trees are mostly bare beginning around November 20. But we have more evergreens and winter ferns here, too)
