4(x + 2) - 3x = x - 6
Distribute the 4 on the left hand side,
4x + 8 - 3x = x - 6
Move everything with an x to the left hand side, and everything else to the right hand side. Remember that, when moving a term over from one side of the equal sign to the other, it switches sign.
4x - 3x - x = -8 - 6
Group like terms and solve.
0 = -14, which is a false statement.
For that reason, there is no solution for x.

Distribute the 4 into the (x+2) so you get 4x+8-3x=x-6, then subtract the 8 over to the other side so you get 4x-3x=x-14. Then you subtract the x over to the other side giving you 4x-3x-x which equals 0. 0 divided by -14 equals 0 so x=0. I think.

4x + 8 - 3x=x-6 distributive property
x+8=x--6 combine like terms
8=--6 subtract x from each side
because 8 can't equal another number (don't ask why, it just is), this would make this have no solution!!! wooo!!!
