The faster you go, the slower time gets. So as your speed approaches the speed of light 186,00 miles per second, theoretically, time slows down to almost nothing. If time is going really slow, then you could travel large distances, like to the end of the solar system in minutes. This is based on Einstein's theories and has been shown by experiments to be correct.

There are a couple of old movies you can watch that explain it fairly well... one is Somewhere in Time with Christopher Reeve and Jayne Seymour... the other is a movie with Kris Kristopherson and Cheryl Ladd called Millineum... this one actually does a better job of explaining a "paradox" that would technically happen if you did go back in time.

Essentially, it is a "folding over" of space (think of tri-folding a piece of paper) so that you can "jump" from one space-time continuim to the next.... the problem becomes the paradox... you cannot "meet" yourself or change anything or else the course of history might be irreversably altered....

Some old Star Trek episodes (Next Generation) deal with the paradox issue as well.... which is the major challenge with time travel.

While this is not yet a reality (I think!)... and many people say it is impossible.. keep in mind that in 1903 it was thought that flight was impossible... and 45 years later, Chuck Yeager was breaking the sound barrier.... soooo....

Briefly, it means to go to another timeframe but not in the normal day-to-day sense - using some external mechanism or device that circumvents the normal time flow and allows you to select a time (and sometimes a place as well) to "appear".
Its pure science fiction, the ability to travel in time does not exist (as far as we know).

Well, it's when you jump from one moment in time to another without traversing the normal time lapse or direction of the arrow of time.

Time travel into the past is impossible given what we know about physics. Some sort of travel into the future might be possible given the time dilation at relativistic speeds and/or gravity wells...i.e. you would age more slowly than your friends at nonrelativistic speeds and normal gravity.

It has to do with bending light, somehow altering space and time. Just see the movie "Deja Vu".

It does not exist in the real world frame of reference.
