i have noticed in the lab, that a small amount of blue CuSO4 crystals (like 0.5g or even smaller than that) when dissolved in water makes it a greyish-white opaque colour. when u go on adding more and more copper sulphate crystals and dissolving them in the water, the solution becomes more and more aqua blue and transparent in colour.
why does this happen? does it have anything to do with the way the CuSO4 crystal is structured?
i am using this in a physics experiment. i want to know if a solution of very low concentration CuSO4 (that is more opaque in colour) will allow more light to pass through it than a solution with a higher concentration of CuSO4 (that is clear blue in colour) or not?

I admit that I read Dan Brown's book Deception point that brought this up in my mind. I personally don't believe we'll colonize the moon and Mars. I don't know what benefit there is to knowing that there are planets out there that we can take pictures of. I don't know much about NASA, so can someone tell me why we spend billions of dollars on the space program?? Has it given us anything? Satelites are the only thing I can think of that touches my daily life.

Can anyone tell me an answer 2 this question. It goes like this:
When whe draw a chord on a circle with 2 points 2 regions are formed. Next we add a point and join this point to the other 2 points in a straight line. Then there are 4 regions formed. Next there are 4 points then 8 regions are formed. When 5 points are there 16 regions are formed. When 6 points are added we presume that 32 regions will be formed, but its 31. My question is how to find the number of regions formed when 'n' number of points are given??
