Can someone tell me about Exothermic & Endothermic? I just want to know about it because later I have to do an Oral exam for my old class. I just want to know a little bit about it and I've looked it up but can't find it. Also can you tell me a little about the pH scale?

I just took a quiz in biology, and the only question I missed stated: Researchers clone an adult animal by using nuclei from its cells to replace the nuclei in the eggs from which the animals developed. And the book said: In cloning an entire animal, the nucleus from a single cell of that adult animal replaces the nucleus of an unfertilized egg cell from another animal of the same species.

See how they use nuclei in the question, and nucleus in the textbook? somebody help meh, help meh please!

He claims that he saw it back in the 1950's maybe. He said that he thinks that his father had one. He also told me that it was something you could put your razor in and it would straighten the blade. He says that blades get dull because of the curvature of the blade after one shaves. He told me that maybe razor blade companies bought this patent. Have you ever seen one of these devices? I don't think he is talking about something like a blade sharpener either.

Calculate the change in entropy of 230 g of water heated slowly from 25.0°C to 90.0°C.

I'm assuming I'm supposed to use dQ = mcdT but I'm not really sure which numbers to plug in where. The m is the mass of .23 kg, and I think c was 4.186 J/Kg*C. What would the dT be though?

(I tried just subtracting them out and got a change of 65*). Then plugged that in to get a dQ of 62.5807.

And then do I use S = dQ/T like:

dQ/T(final) - dQ/T(initial) = change in entropy?

That got me a final answer of .037569 which was incorrect even when cutting it to significant figures Any help would be appreciated =)

When people can hold their breaths for much longer?

Is it residual oxygen in the lungs and blood that's being "reused" till exhaustion?

Because they say you can stay awake for 13 seconds in vacuum if calm, then you blackout and start having brain damage and death.

And that decapitated heads can think and feel pain for 13 (probably 6) seconds?

Is that because all the air leaves your lungs in a vacuum so it's not available for rebreathing? And likewise, the decapitated heads are quickly removed from their lungs and blood?

I've recently become interested in glowing minerals and a site said that a black light wouldn't bring out the colors. Can anyone tell me where, and what kind, of mineral light i need to get. I'm looking for versitile(multiple wave lengths), cheap, and portable. I will take a plug in one though. Also if you know a site that tells you how to find flourescent rocks in your state I would appreciate it. Thanks.

The exhaust temperature of a Carnot heat engine is 330°C. What is the intake temperature if the efficiency of the engine is 27.0%?

The equation I have been using is:

efficiency = 1- (Tcold/Thot)
rearranging for:

Tcold = -Thot (efficiency-1)
Tcold = -603.15K (.27-1)
Tcold = 440.2995 K -273.15 = 167.1495* C

But I put that answer in and it says it's incorrect. Any help would be appreciated.

I read an article about the Ashley Treatment, and a few people wrote in the comments something about it being "(the word)"
I didn't know what that word meant, and I looked it up it meant something like altering the genetics. I think it was genetics with a prefix.
Does anyone happen to know what I mean and help me?
Thanks!

How much force is required to flip the dipole moment of a water molecule as it interacts with a charged surface (electrode) ? The potential gradient can be as high as 10^10 volts per meter at an electrode surface, this can easily orient water dipoles, but how can this be measured as a 'Force' that acts on the water as opposed to just an electrical field?

does anyone here think orcas are mean animals?
And if you do you are absoloutley horribly wrong, and they are called killer whales because back in the day of whaling the whalers would see the orcas (the transient orcas who eat marine mammals.. the southern resident orcas eat salmon) killing whales (not orcas) for food, so called them 'whale killers' eventually it got changed to killer whales
ORCAS ARE NOT WHALES THEY ARE DOLPHINS.
and they have never bit a human. so please know they are the best animal alive in the world. Yep, they are heaps better than HUMANS!
