If it weren't for the media relentlessly blasting us with reports of "extreme" weather, very few of us would be aware that the climate was allegedly undergoing big changes.

I live in a desert, and the hottest years I can remember where back in 1989 and 1990. The last few years have been relatively mild and rainfall in the last year was normal (for us).

It's like the blizzards in Denver over the holidays. Friggin' media acted like it was the end of the world and very unusual. The truth is that such weather can be expected in Denver every year...just that it doesn't always coincide with holiday travel season. It's no wonder that people buy into climate hype when the media sensationalizes what are completely normal weather patterns.

As others have said, global warming is of worldwide concern but on a more local scale then we're experiencing the same here in Yorkshire. We live high on a hill exposed to the north-winds and all it's been for the last few weeks is wet, warm and windy.

I'm closely watching the weather in Scotland and eagerly awaiting the arrival of the snow - we have a place near Eskdalemuir which is totally isolated and incredibly beautiful when it snows.

This week ITV news is running a special week long feature about global warming live from Antarctica. Today they reported on the worlds first climate refugees who have been forced to evacualte their islands because of rising sea levels. Watch the 6 O Clock news on ITV this week for more reports.

EDIT...
Just seen this question posted 11pm Tuesday night, apparently it's snowing in Glasgow... http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aox1s4BVw2rr6CoMrsIhYocjzKIX?qid=20070116142115AAmbGX0

I'm in the USA, state of Ohio, and it has been mild and wet all winter. The ground hasn't frozen yet. We just got a cold snap and a dusting of snow, but mostly we just get rain. A lot of places in the local area have been flooding. The ground is soggy. I'm getting tired of mopping up muddy dog prints off my kitchen floor. Usually I'd be sick of snow by now, but I'd welcome some. We haven't needed snow shovels at all!

Global warming is relevant everywhere. It is NOT about local or regional weather conditions. But in your case--it is very relevant. The Artic icecap is rapidly melting--and that WILL change weather patterns in your part of the world.
