from April 8, 1996 to April 7, 2004 it's 8 years. Nov and Dec 1995 also Jan, Feb, and March 1996 makes it 5 months. 26-31 Oct 1995=6 days. So the answer is 8 years, 5 months and 6 days. I hope that explains it.

Find the number of days between October 25th, 1995 and the following April 7th. Then count up from that April 7th to April 7th, 2004.

The number of days from October 25 to the end of the month (Oct 31) is 6. To find the number of days between October 25, 1995 and April 7, 1996, add all the days is Novemer, December, January, February, March, then finally add 7 to get up to April 7th. So you get 6 + 30 + 31 + 31 + 29 + 31 + 7 = 165. Note 1996 was a leap year, so we had to add 29 there instead of 28.

So it's 165 days from October 25th, 1995 to April 7th, 1996. To get from April 7th, 1996 to April 7th, 2004, that's exactly eight more years. So take 8 times the number of days in a year, and add it to 165. You get 8*365 + 165 = 3,085. BUT February 2000 and February 2004 each had an extra day because both were in a leap year. Thus the answer is 3,087 days.

October has 31 days, so from 25th to 31st there are 6 days
November (we ended Oct above) to December is 2months
1995 to 2004 is 9 years
Jan to April is 4 months
1st April to 7th is 7 days
Adding years, months, and days you get:

9 years, 6 months, and 13 days

Days Left :
October = 16, November = 30, December = 31, January =31, February= 28, March = 31, April = 7

Years left = 8

Total Days = 8(365)+3(31)+30+28+7+16=3096 Days

From and including: Wednesday, October 25, 1995
To, but not including : Wednesday, April 7, 2004

It is 3087 days from the start date to the end date, but not including the end date

Or 8 years, 5 months, 13 days excluding the end date

Alternative time units
3087 days can be converted to one of these units:
266,716,800 seconds
4,445,280 minutes
74,088 hours
441 weeks

12 midnight is start of 2004 04 07
12 midnight is start of 1995 08 25
Subtract the two to get the answer
2003 15 37.417
1995 08 25
8 years 7months 12.417 days
Then add two days for leap years getting:
8 years, 7months, 14.417 days
= 8 years +7 months + 14 days +10 hours + 0.48 minutes

I get 8 years, 5 months and 14 days.

10/25/95 - 10/24/03 is 8 years
10/25/03 - 3/24/04 is 5 months
3/25/04 - 4/7/04 is 14 days

I went to the web site identified by Cirric.

The Julian Day is a "counting day" calendar used in astronomy. Each day is given a unique consecutive number (and the day begins at noon so that the date does not change during night time observations).

Noon Apr. 07, 2004 is day number 2,453,103
Noon Oct. 15, 1995 is day number 2,450,006

Difference = 3,097 days (noon to noon)

---

PS:
Now I see it, I entered October 15, not 25.

It should be:

Noon Apr. 07, 2004 is day number 2,453,103
Noon Oct. 25, 1995 is day number 2,450,016

Difference = 3,087 days (noon to noon)

Sorry
