Once the brain is dead (no more blood to the brain, the brain cells have quit operating), is it physically possible for some sort of conciousness to continue on? If so, how could this happen without breaking laws of physics? This question is not intended to be for, or against, any type of religion. George Carlin once said that he didn't believe in life after death, but he wished that there was some way of knowing for sure. George said, "After we die, it would be nice if a loud voice from somewhere would announce, 'IT'S NOTHING.'

Evolution is based not on 'chance' as it is misquoted by creationists but by small changes over a long period of time (more than 6000 years). The dolphin found off Japan with four fins that are believed to be remnants of legs is another piece in the evolutionary jigsaw and backs the fossil evidence.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,227572,00.html
These small changes over millions of years are in terms of probability possible, making the evolution theory the only theory that works and fits the answers to all our questions. This is not what we know, this is what we put forward as the best probability. The God theory on the other hand is lacking in that there is no evidence and the probability of there being a personal God is so low as to be non existant, especially as the probability of a complex creator will require a more complex creator to create him. Comments without references to that book, this is a question of probability.

I myself really do not understand the concept of other dimensions too well and I'm sure many others don't either. I was watching the science channel one day and they were talking about time travel and how it's possible that there are people from the future trapped in our time, because they don't know how to get back. They also mentioned something about how you could time travel and end up in a dimension that looked exactly like the one you are from, but it isn't. The idea that there actually is a future world going on at the same time as our own world is mind boggling. All of the people interviewed were respected scientists, so they obviously knew what they were talking about. What are your thoughts on time travel and other dimensions?

We got him with these stubby little wings but he was pretty little and we figured he either hadn't developed flight feathers yet or they were trimmed at the shop before we bought him. Either way, he jumps off his cage, flaps his wings and almost goes straight down! Aside from him hurting himself when he crash lands, I'm starting to think he'll never fly. Oh, but he's so cute! You can see him at the following address:

The wheel of a ferris wheel has a 20 m diameter and turns at 4 rpm. Its lowest point is 1.3 m above the ground. Assume that the height (h) is a sinusoidal function of time (t) where t=0 is the lowest point.

a) Write a equation for h.
Answer:
-Okay, so I went through my book and found the equation h=a*sin*w*t+k (I have absolutely no idea what a or w stand for though.)
-Then, I plugged in the numbers and got h=10*sin*4*t+11.3

Is that right? Do you have any idea how to find the equation or explain what I'm doing?

b) Find h at t=10sec.
Answer:
-I figure I would just plug in 10 for t, but how do I solve h=10*sin*40+11.3

Please help! I have pretty much no idea what I'm doing, and I need to understand it for a test. I posted as far as I got, and you don't have to give me the answer. Just tell me what I'm doing...please ?!?

In the laboratory, you are given a cylindrical beaker containing a fluid and you are asked to determine the density of the fluid. You are to use a sprinf of negliglble mass and unknown spring constant k attacked to a stand. AN irregularly shaped object of known mass and density hangs from the spring. YOu may choose a metric ruler, a stopwatch, and string to complete the task.
a. Exp. how you could experimentally determine the sping constant
b. The spring object system is now arranged so that the object but none of the spring is immersed in the unknown fluid. Describe any changes that are observed in the system and explain why they occur.
c. Exp. how you could determine the density of the fluid.
d. Show explicitly, using equations, how you will your measurements to calculate the fluid density.
