Algebra II is really a loose defination that varies from school to school. It is generally the continuation of more advanced application of algebra principles (unknows, conditionals,etc..).
Trig., however is about triangles and the calculation of the elements of triangular associations (sine, consine, tangent, etc) and how these are applied in the real world (navigation, GPS, etc..). Some Alg. 2 classes also include a touch or more than a touch of calculus.
Trig and trig functions have remained pretty constant as a course for a few decades.
Clear as mud.. right??

I would say trigonometry is more akin to geometry than algebra 2. Triginometry focuses on the relationships between angles and sides of triangles. You will learn about the "trig functions" such as sine, cosine, tangent, and there inverses. Then there a lot of identities that you'll get to prove involving these functions. What they won't likely tell you is that most of these identities can be solved (quite easily) using complex numbers and the algebra of exponents. If you are interested, looking at Euler's Identity is a good place to start.

Trig is usually introduced at the end of an Alg 2 book, but most classes never get that far in the book. Trig can be a course in itself, though rarely more than a semester (paired maybe with solid geometry). Most often trig is included as 2 or 3 chapters in a PreCalculus text.

Trigonometry is a branch of mathematics that study triangles and the relationships between their aspects and the angles between those aspects. Trigonometry defines the trigonometric purposes, which describe those relationships and characteristic applicability to cyclical phenomena, which includes waves. the field developed in the course of the third century BC as a branch of geometry used significantly for astronomical study.[2] that is likewise the start position of the wise paintings of surveying.

most schools like to introduce trig and algebra II as one course. They are completely different material, though.

Algebra 2 and trignometry are totally different.
Algebra 2 deals with equations, numberline and inequalities .....
but trignometry deals with right angle triangles. (sine, cosine, and tangent), bearings, scale drawings and so on
