I've just been wondering how it all works. Does it have something to do with the molecules in the air speeding up or slowing down? I think that it's the suns distance that has an effect on it, but what does it have an effect on exactly?

I saw a guy this weekend at a dinner party, take a spoon and butter knife and pick them up, as though they were magnetic. How did he do it? He held the knife and stuck it to the spoon and picked up the spoon w/ the end of the knife.

For instance it is well known that the products of a complete combustion of a hydrocarbon must be carbon dioxide and water, and since soot is neither the residue caused by the combustion process must be a hydrocarbon right, but then why don't we burn soot, why do we just throw it away, or am I wrong, I hope someone can clear this up for me.

im so confused with language.
a/b '/' should be a vertical line. this means a is divisible by b,b is a mutiple of a. so 5/20 ,5/355 they are called 5 is divisible by 20. but can this work 20/5. 20 is divisible by 5? and this 15/18 ? because 15 and 18 have the same factor 3.
more examples would be appreciated
