The customer has five different choices for the appetizer. After the appetizer, he has seven choices for the entree. So he has 5*7 = 35 choices of appetizer/entree combinations. (Because for each of five appetizers, there are seven options for the entree.) Then there are four choices for desserts, so there are 35*4 = 140 total possibilities.

The answer is 140 combinations.

In these types of questions, you just multiply the three numbers together (number of appetizers, number of entrees, number of desserts).
