Combine like terms
7x+15-5x+15=-2
2x+15+15=-2
2x+30+2=0
2x=-32
x= -16

2006-12-18 14:13:54 · answer #1 · answered by Pace 5 · 0 0

first u do the number in the term of x
7x-5x = 2x

then, u do the number without x
15 + 15 = 30

7x+15-5x+15 = -2
2x + 30 = -2
Move the 30 at right hand side
so it will become
2x = -2-30
2x = -32
x = -32/2
x = -16

Simplifying is adding all the like terms together.

In this case you can add (7x -5x) + (15+15) = -2

so this simplifies to 2x + 30 = -2

solved =
2x/2 = -32/2
x= -16 maybe superfluous but oh well

7x - 5x + 15 + 15 = -2
2x + 30 = -2

Subtracting 30 from both sides:

2x + 30 - 30 = -2 - 30
2x = -32

Dividing both sides by two:

2x/2 = -32/2
x = -16

7x+15-5x+15=-2
2x+30=-2 (combine terms)
2x=-32 (subtract 30 from both sides)
x=-16(divide by 2)

7x-5x =2x 15+15=30
2x + 30 = -2
2x + 30-30 -2-30
2x = -32
-32/2 = -16
x= -16

7x+15-5X+15=-2

rearrange this equation

7x-5x+15+15=-2

2x+30=-2

2X=-2-30

2x=-32

x=-32/2

x=-16

NOw you can check it by putting the value of X

7(-16)+15-5(-16)+15=-2

-112+15+80+15=-2

-112+110=-2

110-112 = -2 -------------------> (proved)

7x+15-5x+15=-2
first u need to add or subtract the numbers that u have in the equation to get this
2x+30=-2
then u need to subtract the 30 to the other side to solve for x to get this
2x=-32
then u need to divide the 2 from both sides to get the x
x=-16
that is the way to do it

2006-12-18 22:16:47 · answer #8 · answered by First L 1 · 0 0

combine the 7x and the -5x, and you get 2x
then combine the 15 and 15 to get 30

so its 2x+30=-2

add 2 to both sides to get:

2x+30=0

minus 30 on each side to get

2x= -30

then divide each side by 2 to get..

i think -30 divided by 2 is -15(possibly positive 15)...so then x= -15!

Combine Like terms to start

2x + 30 = -2

Subtract 30 from each side

2x = -32

Divide both sides by 2

x = -16
