lava's lava, whever you go, what makes it different is how it cools.

krakatau is a composite strato-volcano with a caldera.

Lava can be slow and easy - such as Hawaii's volcano's.
You can sit and watch the lava flow.

Krakatoa was the type that is very hot an with lots of gas - that way when it is shaken up (as in an eruption) - it expands explosively.
Pinatubo was like that - it shot straight up (like an arrow) for twenty miles. I watched it on radar from Subic. Krakatoa must of been this type but had an obstruction underwater that caused a explosion - and the resulting inflow of water combining with an eruption resulted in a huge explosion and tsunami
