I can solve simple equations like nobody's buisness, but the fraction bar has me thrown completely off. According to my teacher, I'd multiply by 1/a-1, but this only gets rid of part of the equation (and she's certianly been wrong before). Please help!

During Alpha decay, an alpha particle is emitted from a nucleus at v velocity. Explain why the velocity of the alpha particle is greater if the daughter nucleus is not free to move.

If conservation of momentum is applied, the initial momentum is 0 and the final must be zero, but because only the alpha particle has momentum, it has no other "momentum" to counter it to total zero. I can't get it to work out so the alpha particle moves faster if the daughter nucleus cannot move. Please help.

And I ain't talkin' your average - but overfed - Ginger Tom!

I've been 'avin a ponder tonight. I seem to remember hearing from somewhere that there are 7 types of 'big cats.' I reckon they are -

Tigers
Lions
Lynx
Jaguar
Leopard
Panther
Puma

(I know there are others - Ocelets etc - but I am assuming they 'fit' into one of the above?)

Right, so my first point is, are my 7 big cats correct?

Secondly, my friend swears blind that panthers (black) are extinct, or heading that way. I think it's Lynx's that are ... Are either of us right ?

Thirdly, are there really big cats living in the British countryside? If so, why and where ?

Fourth - Do you really get pink panthers ?!?

I'm a big fan of the TV show "LOST", and there is a funny link here, when Locke and Jack are arguing, and Locke says to Jack, "Do you know why we don’t see eye to eye, Jack? Because you are a man of science (Jack is a Doctor), and I'm a man of Faith."

Now, Intelligent Design IS based on FAITH. It is WRONG, however, if you think that it is NOT based on science. Science has NOT DISPROVEN CREATION IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM, and to say that it has is plain WRONG and a LIE! Evolution as a Theory has proven one thing.... and that is that Evolutionary Theory ITSELF evolves rapidly. In fact, most of what was thought true or probable only 5-10 years ago has been either proven wrong or altered mightily.

Example - Jurassic Park, the blockbuster film from only 8 years ago portrayed Raptors as lizard like, based on the most recent science. Now, the wackos at Discovery channel portray them as vicious chickens. In fact, there's NO links, or tweeners between ANY species including Archaeopteryx.
