The equation of a line contained in the type y = ax + b .... a is the slope and b the y-intercept. Then purely study it in each and each and every equation. a) y = (a million/2)x - 2 .... slope a million/2 y-intercept y= - 2 b) y = 3x + 5 .... slope 3 y-intecept y = 5 c) y = (2/3)x + a million ... slope 2/3 y-intercept y = a million d) y = x-7 .... slope a million y-intercept y = -7 ok!

Slope intercept form= y=mx+b
x and y are the coordinates: (x,y)
m is the slope of the line
b is the y-intercept of the line

So.......................
0=(-2)(3)+b; multiply -2 and 3
0=-6+b; add 6 to both sides
6=b

B=6

ok y= mx + b
the m is the slope which is given
y=2(x) + b
(3,0) is the cordiates that you are going to plug in
0 = 2(3) + b
so the outcome is
0 = 6 + b
but you have to find b so
0= 6 + b
-6 -6
-6= b
so the answer i would put down is
y= 2x + 6

hope that helps :-)

They have given you m = -2 so use the point given ( 3, 0) and plug it into your equation and solve for b as follows

0 = -2(3) + b
b = +6

and since b is the y-intercept you now know that the y-intercept is +6

OK I just did these in school.
So just substitute first: y = -2x + b
Now you have to find y-intercept or "b"
Substitute again: 0 = -2 * 3 + b
And just solve now: 0 = -6 + b
6 = b
The answer for y intercept is: 6

since you know that (3,0) is part of the line, you can plug the point in and also the slope. here, ill do it step by step:
first, plug in the point.
you will get:
0= m(3) + b
then, plug in the slope to get:
0= (2)(3) + b
therefore, it is:
0= 6 + b and b = -6

Take you equation and plug in the numbers.

y = mx + b

3 = x
y = 0
b = -2

(3,0), m = -2

0 = -2(3) + b

0 = -6 + b

Simplify and find b.

B = 6!

B is the y-intercept!

ok so m= -2 and the point is (3,0). basically plug in the x and y values in y=mx+b. so you get 0= 2(3) + b. b = -6.

You have a point on the line which is (3,0)
So you can use that:

y=mx+b
0=-2(3)+b
b=6
y=-2x+6

Therefore your y intercept is 6.

First of all you have to write the equation in point slope form: y2-y1=m(x2-x) x2 means second x not 2x or x squared.
so plug in what you know:assuming the point given is x2 or y2
0-y= -2(3-x)
-y=-6+2x
Divide each side by -1 to make it a poistive y.
y= -2x+6
b=6
