Okay, I know I am asking a lot of math questions, but I am confused on my homework.

Okay, how do you turn a fraction like this into a decimal?
3 1/3.

Also, how would you turn it into a decimal if it was -3 1/3? Would you just do the same as the first, just with the whole number being negative?

Suppose that I weigh 180 pounds on the Earth's surface at mean sea level.

I and 3 other objects are going to the moon.

1. A ridgid "baloon" filled with hydrogen.
2. Bathroom scales
3. Doctor's scales - those kind that have weights to counter balance.

I weigh the same on both scales (with my space suit on, of course - discount the effects from the suit).

When I hold onto the hydrogen baloon, I weigh 120 ponds on both scales.

Now, what weights would I expect on the moon if I repeated the experiments there?

ps - assume the moon's gravity is 1/6 (0.17) that of the earth.

Okay, I know how to turn a decimal into a fraction.
Say I have to turn 250.88 into a fraction. It would be 250 88/100. When I have to write it in simplest form, do I also reduce the 100 part? So then it may look like 250 11/25? Would I have to do that with all decimals to fractions. Even a number like, 8/10, 324 34/1000, etc.?

I'm very curious, because I was looking at the map of the US and I realized the following thing: the state's have straight line borders. How is that possible? Where do they get these straight lines from? Obviously there isn't any line drawn into the ground, so how could that be true?
