The Question leaves us all in the air. At one time The Country of Texas was quite a bit larger than it is now and Alaska was Russian territory. Also, you don't qualifier bigger. Texas has many things bigger than Alaska.

I will agree Alaska has a bigger problem with using the land it has and Texas has nearly twice the usable land area as Alaska and even more if you realize that the Republic of Texas split off portions of its land to help create New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming. Alaska couldn't create other states because of usable land area constraints.

Alaska does have some blowhards that might even be bigger than Texas blowhards.

Not only is Alaska bigger than Texas - if you cut Alaska in half, both halfs would be bigger than Texas. That would make Texas #3. If you measure the Alaska coastline from high tide to low tide - the difference is bigger than Texas. That means if you cut Alaska in half, Texas would be #3 at high tide and #4 at low tide. Alaska! Where the odds are good, but, the goods are odd.

yes, I'm from Texas, so we learned this at a very young age! LOL--------the confusion stems from the fact that Texas is the largest in the main body of the USA, but Alaska is the largest of all the states. For some of us "old" folk, when we were very young, Alaska wasn't a state yet........

If you cut Alaska in half, Texas would be the third largest state.

The Easternmost, Northernmost and Westernmost points in the USA are ALL in Alaska. (Check a map)

Yes, by a LARGE margin. The way a map has to be drawn (putting a globe shape object on a flat surface), Alaska looks smaller than it really is.
