My question deals with a balence beam.
Lets say I have a huge cement slab that hangs down verticaly 8ft exactly from the pivot point. The balence arm is 25ft long and has a weight which can slide from tip to pivot point. This cement slab weighs lets say 5,000lbs and the sliding weight is unknown, "X".

Does the fact that the cement slab hangs well below the pivot point acting as a type on lever the moveable weight now has to work against effect the equation?
MxD=MxD is now MxD=MxDxL
M=mass D=distance L=leverage

I have uploaded a picture of what I mean to my forum...
It can be viewed here...
http://www.secrets2flight.dfuzed.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=9#9

What kind of equation would I use if my guess was wronge???
I am guessing leverage has something to do with it, but I have not gotten the chance to take highschool physics yet.

i am not clear as to how much is a billion and trillion. some say that in US billion is 10 raised to power 9 whereas in other countries it is 10 raised to power 12. similarly trillion. is it 10 raised to power 15 or 18? is it not confusing if different countries adopt different values for the same thing.

I'm desperate cuz this is needed to pass 8th grade! Please help me...

The teacher made us write a page that has radius/height/surface area/volume across the top, and I need a combo for the 20 (increasing) radius beginning with 0.5 and graduating to 10.0. The vol. 499.95-500.5. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Here are tips:

Need to find the radius and height of the can which will use the least aluminum,(ie: find out how to minimise the surface area of the can).
WHAT SHAPE IS YOUR CAN? DO YOU KNOW OF ANY CANS WITH THIS SHAPE?
Let the radius of the can be r cm, and the height be h cm. Write down algebraic expressions which give:
-the volume of the can
-the total surface area of the can, in terms of r and h. (Remember to include the two ends!)

Using the fact that the volume of the can must be 500 cm3, -you could either try to find some possible pairs of values for r and h (do this systematically if you can). -for each of your pairs, find out the corresponding surface area.

based upon a constant circular motion using the pressure built from the the alchohol boiling at a much lower temp than the water creating steam which in turn will create an anti gravial force, which disrupts the magnetal force and agitate the polaririty, and therefor create the low heat require to boil the alcohol, and still leave the water as a constant?

in an atom, how is the electron, neutron, and proton amount determined?

and what does it mean when you have something like

Mg 2+ does that mean it has 2 extra protons? But if the # of protons equals the atomic number (12), then why does it have 12 protons, 10 electrons, and 12 neutrons? why did the protons stay the same but the electrons decreased? or am i doing this wrong?
