psi is pounds per square inch but I think you are referring to phi
phi is the number which is one more than its reciprocal i.e. positive number x that satisfies
x = 1/x+1
or
x^2 = x+ 1
transferring x+1 to the left hand side we get
x^2-x+1 = 0
x = (1+sqrt(5))/2 =(1+2.236)/2 = 1.618
this has got very interesting properties one of the most interesting is the ratio of f(n+1) and f(n) when n-> infinite for a Fibonacci sequence

I'm guessing that you're referring to the "golden ratio", which is usually represented by the Greek letter phi (not psi). Adding a few more decimal places, it's 1.618 033 988 .. (not 1.628...). It comes up in a lot of places. One is art, where figures with that ratio of width to length are said to be pleasing to the eye.
I put links to some web pages with good discussions of this number. If you do a web search on "golden ratio", you'll find lots more.

The ratio makes me feel that you are talking about the golden ratio. not pounds per sq inch.
It is a very interesting ratio = (1+sqrt(5))/2
Algebraically, psi^2 - psi -1=0
Consider the Fibonacci series.
The terms are 1,1,2,5,8,13,21,34,55,89,... The ratio of the successive terms approaches the golden ratio.
Bernoulli based his logarithmic spiral on the golden ratio.

Porous silicon (pSi) is a form of the chemical element silicon which has an extremely large surface to volume ratio.
It is usually manufactured by etching away most of a layer of silicon using wet chemical etches. Many etches are based on hydrofluoric acid. Electrochemical etching is also used. What is left is a fine connected network of sub micrometre silicon threads. These thin structures often have properties that are different to bulk crystalline silicon. Fine control of these etching processes enables the properties of the network to be repeatably controlled. For example, controlling the mean diameter of the threads or the pores.
Porous silicon exhibits a high degree of biocompatability. The large surface area enables bio-organic molecules to adhere well. This has opened potential applications in medicine such as a framework of the growth of bone.
