If you think about the universe long enough, and how it's infinite and super-massive, don't you just want to **** your pants to feel that warm mushyness that reassures you that you are actually still in existence?

Do scientists or artists have a more open mind?
I recently posted a question about whether people believe I live with invisible alien beings from another dimension (which I do). I asked the question in the Astronomy section and one in Arts and humanities. Is it left brain vs right brain? I got different results. The question was worded slightly different. Still, the scientists were much more skeptical I think. Chemistry, for instance, is a perfect science that can not go outside the boundaries. I would think astronomers would be more open minded although they tend to deal more with math. Artists, writers are more open to imagination and so the idea that it could exist may be more readily accepted. Scientists, for example, can not accept that the amount of time it would take at light speed to reach Earth. In another dimension, it would be possible. Who would be more willing to accept this theory? What are your thoughts

I'm not asking what the fourth dimension is, I already know. I'm simply curious as to why an overwhelming number of people believe it to be time.

Time is a construct of the third dimension. Time is based on our planetary orbit and our axial rotation. All of these planetary and geometrical phenomena are within three dimensions, so time itself is a three dimensional construct. How then did this misnomer originate?

Do a Google search using

mars close approach

The 2nd top entry returned is:

Mars and Earth pass closer to each other than at any time during the last 60000 years.
news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/3184157.stm - 36k - 26 Aug 2006

It is wrong because when you click that entry and look at the date of the report at the very top, it is Aug 27 2003.

The BBC have left this report hanging on Cyberspace and kids surfing have found it and assumed, very easily from the title, that is is this year.

All the other misinformation has just ballooned out of this as the kids have emailed their friends, who have emailed their friends, and so on until millions of gullible people have believed it to be true.

If any of the people who have suddenly, inexplicably, gotten an interest in Mars had a real interest, they would have got hold of a book on Mars, or researched some more on the internet, and learned enough in five minutes reading to know that this was misinformation.

A hydrocarbon (a) was found to have the molecular formula C10H12. some results from chemical reactions are as follows:

1) when (a) was reacted with ozone in the presence of aqueous acetic acid and Zn, it gave two prodects (b) and (c)

both of these products yeilded yellow solids when reacted with 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine in the presence of dilute HCL

What do these results tell you about (a), (b), (c)

2)when (b) was reacted with Tollens reagent, a silver mirrot formed on the walls of the test tube (positive result). THe compund (c) was a negative result. What do these results tell you about (b) (c)

3)When (b) was warmed with aqueous NaOH in the presence of iodine, yellow precip. of Chi3 formed. what does this indicate?

4) draw structure of (b)

5)(c) gave a positive iodoform rxn, also after idoform had been filtered off, benzoic acid precipitateed off. Draw (c)

6) (a) was one of 2 strucual formulas draw both

7) give acceptable (iupac) name for one of them

I am working with a group of researchers on a new medical treatment for the scalp. We DESPERATELY need help in finding a practical way to lift and separate hair on the head. We have thought of different clips, static electricity, suction, velcro and lots of other ideas but none of them has really worked. So if you think of a way for any of the above to work (except the static electricity which we already have definitely ruled out) or have a different idea, please share your creativity and brainstorming with us.

The method has to hold the hair up for about 15 minutes so that a light treatment can reach the scalp without the hair interfering and blocking the light.

Any really really smart out-of-the-box thinkers out there?
