No. I think that it's laughable that human beings put labels on things like that. It existed long before we did and will be here after we're gone so the desultory effect of whatever title we give it is essentially meaningless. It's a planet like mass orbiting around the sun. Surely any decision about at what size these masses do or do not become planets is somewhat arbitrary?

I do understand that for the purposes of scientific categorisation it is necessary to be specific and have such guidelines, I just can't help seeing the slightly ridiculous side.

I would have to agree ! The researchers said Pluto failed to dominate its orbit around the Sun in the same way as the other planets.
Pluto will now be known as a dwarf planet but I do have recognition for those who are used to the older view of the solar system.
But science and discovery is all about changes and stepping forward

I don't think Pluto should be called a planet because it is too small. But at least it is solid.
I don't think Jupiter should be a planet because it is just gas.

I don't agree with this decision because I liked Pluto for so long time and miss it terribly now.

I don't know why it took so long to realize that "Pluto is not a planet"???? He is Mickey's dog and should always remain as such!

shouldn't be a planet, doesn't act like a planet, only reason it was made a planet was because they didn't know what else to call it.
