Hi guys. I've been reading a lot about peak oil and how, pretty soon, oil will be $10/gallon, and basically how civilization will end in countries that depend strongly on oil. Is it possible, for anyone who knows what they are talking about, to relieve my fears of this doomsday scenario??? Or are we all really going to hell?

I want a solid understanding of mathematics - the foundations of it and such, so looking into the development of it all would be a good start I would think. I'm looking for book recommendations and/or website resources on topics such as.. problems that caused parts of math to be developed, history of math.. some good resources on understanding it all. All that make any sense? Can't think of another way to explain it.

Not very original, but my personal favorite is Orion. I like how his belt is so straight, and also because the Andromeda galaxy is in the same vicinity and that's my favorite galaxy.

Why do people support this theory as the true beginging of the Universe? It's not even a theory for "How The Universe Was Created" its a theory for why its expanding. The Big Bang is: the universe was at one time a super-commpressed speck then, randomly, it exploded into the universe. THat doesn't even make sense, besides where did the speck come from?!? things dont randomly explode
--Newton's three laws of motion
and matter does not randomly apear
--Three laws of Thermodynamics
Do people believe in it simply it is the only theory that the 'scientific community' has come up with?
