A lot of people say that there are aliens among us or that they've seen alien spacecraft, but if all this is really true, then what is the real reason behind extraterrestrial visitation to earth? What makes us so interesting that aliens would use their technology to come visit us?

Last night on the news they mentioned that the space shuttle would be visible at 9:23 (Calif. time) in the western sky. Sure enough two of us went out and we were able to spot it for a few seconds (looking like a medium-magnitude star, moving quickly across the sky ... very nice!). It climbed from the horizon ... but within a few seconds, it just faded out and disappeared as it climbed and we couldn't see it any more. It was a clear sky. Why would that happen? (I think I know, but I'm wondering if someone can give me a more informed description.)

This claimed invention sounds like it might work and I would like some educated opinions. The device is an engine in which small quantitites of water are turned into steam by the use of a magnetron. The following is an outline of how to construct the device.1.Magnetron from medium power microwave oven.2.SmallSmall 4-stroke single cylinder lawn mover engine or similar engine with old style points and ignition system.3. Automotive alternator with built-in rectifier and regulator, also a 12 volt auto battery.4."Trigger" mechanism from an aircraft"strobe" landing light. The magnetron fits into the spark plug hole. The distributor points are modified so that the contact is closed when the piston is at the top dead center and this contact is used to activate the aircraft strobe mechanism. The high voltage from the strobe is connected to directly fire the magnetron which in turn produces steam which moves the piston.I dont have room to fit any more details.Write me if interested in chat h2o4go@yahu

Ok, we have done the whole hubble thing and the MIR and all, why not go back to the moon and create a long term base with a super large Telescope consisting of multiple mirrors spread out over the moons surface all focusing on a single point? In addition the moon base could be used as a launch pad to further parts of the solar system or even beyond it. A large electric rail gun or solid fuel launch pad from the moon would enable much higher speeds than launches from earth. How about a solid fuel launch precluding a nuclear ion drive system? Or a rail gun to Ion drive?
While we are at it, the moon can be used for research for long term, we could also bore down under the moons surface to shield us from Solar Flares and radiation.

Personally I think we should do stuff like this today, and not leave it to our great grand kids.

I mean, I've heard about how the government faked the whole moon mission thing. I personally believe the missions were real, however it seems to me that it would be so easy to prove. Why NASA hasn't done something like this before is strange. Maybe they have and I am the only one who doesn't know it?

I for one think it is rediculous to think that humans are the only intelligent beings in this universe. That of all the more than billions of planets out there that only earth produced intelligent beings.
I think there are beings out there that are much more advanced than us humans. I think the reason that they haven't discovered us yet is beacause we haven't done anything that would draw them to us.
I think we are just too small and insegnifcant for them to notice us.
