Well im doing some homework and i finished doing the equations, now i need help with the COLLECT LIKE TERMS
part!

It means that any terms with the same variables should be grouped together, for example x, 2x, 3x are all grouped as "x" terms, x^2, 2x^2, are in the x^2 group, xy 2xy, are in the xy group. Next, for each group, add up the coefficients (the numbers) in the group and put that in front of the group name. x , 2x, 3x would equal 6x. (1+2+3 =6).

Now, hopefully, you have a few less terms to deal with. Oh, yes, if there are no variables after a some numbers, those are a group themselves 2 , 3, 5 get added to become 10.

when you collect like terms you are adding positive and negative Terms (expressions). You can only add and subtract the coefficients. for example 7x + 9yx + (-14x) + 3yx =
12yx - 7x
YOU CANNOT add or subtract variables unless they are the exact same variable with the exact same power for example
X(X)(X)(X) is x to the fourth power (X^4) whereas x(X) is x^2 when adding these you would have X^4 + x^2 NOT X^6 !!!

In other words, only add the coefficients in front of variables it's all your allowed to do when combining like terms

But once the like terms are combined you can do further computation
6x + 8x + 7y = 14x+7y and 14x+7y = 7(2x+y)

I'm guessing at your context, but they're probably referring to terms with the same unknowns. So for example, in 2x + 3x^2 + 3y + 4x there are two terms where x is the only unknown. Thus you can "collect" the 2x and the 4x into 6x.
