SiO2 have lower b.p. and m.p. (2980,1610) than the MgO (3600,2852) and Al2O3 (2980,2027). Why?
since sio2 is in macromolecular lattice structure, it should have higher lattice energy than the ionic compound...
my lecturer explain to me that the sio2 is amorphous solid...
is it correct?

and another qusetion
can an insulator conduct electricity under high current or high voltage?
