Cells in our world come in two basic types, prokaryotic and eukaryotic. "Karyose" comes from a Greek word which means "kernel," as in a kernel of grain. In biology, we use this word root to refer to the nucleus of a cell. "Pro" means "before," and "eu" means "true," or "good." So "Prokaryotic" means "before a nucleus," and "eukaryotic" means "possessing a true nucleus." This is a big hint about one of the differences between these two cell types. Prokaryotic cells have no nuclei, while eukaryotic cells do have true nuclei. This is far from the only difference between these two cell types, however.

Prokaryotic cells were the first on the planet. Thats why they have the pro prefix. Pro means first. THis means they have no real nucleus. Eukaryotic cells have a true nucleus and evolved later.

prokarytotes have nucleus whereas eukaryotes do not. prokaryotes have 70s ribosomes whereas eukaryotes have 80s ribosomes. prokaryotes do not have a definite nucleus whereas eukaryotes have. prokaryotes respire thru cell membrane whereas eukaryotes respire thru mitochondria. in prokaryotes photosynthesis takes place in cytoplasm whereas in eukaryotes photosynthesis takes place in chlorophyll. prokaryotes include bacteria and cyanobacteria whereas eukaryotes include all other organisms.

prokaryotes are more primitive and preceded eukaryotes.

Prokaryotes have their DNA/RNA just floating free inside the cell membrane.

Eukaryotes have their DNA tucked into a nucleus, which is just a membrane that keeps a cells lunch from becoming part of it's genetic makeup.

i think prokaryotic cells are simple, organisms. eukaryotc are more complex and have more cell organs. that is all i remember off the top of my head
