Any dalmation, especially younger, I've ever seen are very energetic.
If you want a calm dog, greyhounds are good. They have two modes, really fast, and nearly catatonic. When they get outside and get to exercise, they are full blast all the time. When you get them inside, they literally play dead. My uncle has a greyhound that he takes out and it will run all it possibly can and as fast as it can. When it comes inside, it lays on the couch, and you would think it is dead if it wasn't that you can see it breathing. You can pick it up and swing it around and it won't wake up.

Dalmations are not calm. The movies depict them as sweet, cuddly pets, but they are not trustworthy. A different breed should be considered for a household with children.

No, they are a high-energy breed of dog.
They were bred to be carriage dogs- and that means to run
alongside the carriage all day, not ride in it!
Dalmations (esp when young)need a decent-sized yard and lots of walks or they get destructive and ruin couches and such...

i have a Dalmatian and he is very calm at times but when he is excited hes absolutely crazy, don't listen to the people who say they are hard dogs to train because the are very smart and catch on quickly. the only reason people have these crazy ideas about Dalmatians is because when Disney produced 101 Dalmatians everyone wanted a Dalmatian so they were bred in puppy mills and given a bad reputation because people who don't know how to care for dogs now had to deal with really good dogs. so really it all depends on the owner.

These are all lies. I owned a couple different dalmations. It just depends on how you raise the dog.

Not any Dalmatian I came across. They are very energetic and hard to train and aggressive.

The are listed as the stupidest of all dog breeds, so they tend to be spazzes.
