1. carrie asked: Why the UN doesn't sanction USA?

2. Someone answered: Wrong. Removing Saddam saved Iraqi lives. While Saddam starved to death children, he spent billions of dollars on palaces that included gold faucets. And instead of using plumbing equipment to purify water, he made lakes and waterfalls for himself.

"It is estimated that 500,000 Iraqi children have died because of the non-compliance of the Iraqi Government with [United Nations] Security Council resolutions 706 (1991), 712 (1991) and 986 (1995) since the end of the Gulf War. "

"Despite improvements there are still close to one million children under the age of five suffering from chronic malnutrition in Iraq today - that's nearly a quarter of all children of that age," said Mr. Carel de Rooy, the head of UNICEF in Iraq. "This is unacceptable. More still needs to be done to end the suffering of a generation of children."

3. The company that I work for disagrees with the above poster and his assertions.

I attended public schools in St. Louis in the 50"s and 60's. Every year the elementary school kids put on a Christmas pageant, complete with Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus. There were shepards, a manger, 3 wise men, angels and assorted other characters. We sang "Silent Night" (holy night) and other carols. No one complained! In fact, they really liked it. Was this wrong?? Or, has political correctness today gone overboard?

I know there are plenty of conservative celebrities who put their money where their mouths were and ran for public office: Ronald Reagan, Clint Eastwood, Sonny Bono, and Fred Thompson come immediately to mind. For the life of me, I can't seem to come up with a single liberal celebrity who has run for office (and won) and actually put in the time and effort to actually do something.

Why don't the likes of Sean Penn, Susan Sarandon, Danny Glover, etc. back up their talk with some action instead of jetting about the world promoting their "causes"?

There is lots to choose from, but please name what you consider the worst: treason in outing V. Plame, lying about WMDs, torture, scuttling of habeas corpus, tying a webcam to a dog, shooting friends in the face, outlawing stem cells, vetoing all laws that help others besides his rich buddies, the rich buddy tax cuts, the 2001 hanging chads, etc.

If abortion isn't murder then why does a criminal get charged with 2 murders for killing a pregnant woman. I understand that he took away her right to choose to abort the child but, isn't dead, dead? If the criminal just hurt the mother but killed the unborn child shouldn't he just be charged with assault? Why do the courts view an unborn child has a life criminally yet give a mother the right to terminate a pregnancy? Would it be the same has if she wanted to kill her 3 year old? It is HER child.

I understand the slippery slope we are treading on but hasn't precedent already been established? A mother can be institutionalized to protect an unborn child from her drinking yet, the mother can abort it?
