The Kurds have lobbied the USA and gain our political support. The Kurds are nomadic traditionally and have been a thorn to the whole region back at least one hundred years. The British left them out with no country at the end of the ottoman empire. It goes way back but the truth is they convinced the current administration support in the invasion of Iraq. They have been trouble makers. Saddam dealt with the problem with draconian measures which we all know is wrong, and they used the sympathy to gain support from the US. The Opium trade trumps the oil and that was part of their niche. They just moved products through the mountains for centuries. The Kurds are the Gypsies of the middle east and they live where they please and are not very good tax payers or citizens for that matter. Should they be killed I do not think so but there life style is unorthodox, there is a small area where the US has influenced much progress but the people just go where ever they want. They trade whatever they want. Turkey has said no more and we as usual are in the middle again.

Perhaps because most Americans can't read that article because it's not in English. Perhaps because Americans don't even understand the Kurd/Turk thing. Now if Angelina Jolie was a Kurd and Jennifer Anniston was a Turk, Americans would then somehow figure out how to understand the conflict in it's entirety.
Why do you care what Americans think anyway?

Well most people arent aware of any nuances that exist. In general though, the Kurds stood up against Sadam, we put the no fly zone in pace in the 90s to protect them and they have largely welcomed us inot Iraq. And they are the only ones in the country right now not blowing themselves up.
Americans tend to sympathise with the underdog and the opressed, which is what they were under Sadam. Then there are also the Turkish Kurds. Though there is the PKK, which are a bunch of terrorists and Americans do not generally support, the vast majority of Kurds in Turkey have been opressed over the years, not allowed to speak there own language, having cutoms banned and so on. Its one of the big road blocks to Turkey joining the EU.
But I wouldnt say that Americans generally dont like Turkey either. Turkey is usualy used as the example of a "good" and "moderate" musli\m nation. Turkey is a NATO ally afterall.

Because America stand to protect the oppressed and the weak. Saddam and the "Turks" used the Kurds to test weapons and have tortured, raped and pillaged their communities. Do we all forget Saddam's use of Chemical weapons against the Kurds?
This is why the Northern and Southern No-Fly zones were created after the war in 1991, to protect the Kurdish clans.
This still does not excuse the Kurds from doing something stupid like provokes attacks from Turkey.

Lets get a bit more specific here.
The Kurds who are terrorizing Turkey are not getting the wide spread support you think they are getting.
The Kurds who are living peacefully in Northern Iraq do have the support of the Americans.
BTW: If you give a link make sure it is in English you do better.

Basically because the Kurds are better friends than the Turks.
Turkey has done nothing for us but expects us to act as if we are your servant.
I feel that before Turkey asks for anything again they should answer the question: "What have you done for us lately?"

To be honest most Americans couldn't pick out a Kurd from a Turk. We are more interested in Jennifer Love Hewitt getting thicker. Most Americans don't bother to read about international news stories. Its sad but true.

I assume that like me, most Americans are not informed about that situation although we view the Kurds as the good guys for standing up to Saddam.

Because the Turks are bombing one of the most peaceful places in Iraq. Which is very very stupid. Deal with the terrorists on your soil, don't bomb a country that has already said it is working to defeat the terrorists on their turf.
