So many people seem to be opposed to this idea. I am just wondering if there if anyone in favor of it could tell me why its a good idea.

Thanks

Now a days most people really don't care in the United States. What do you think was the cause and the start of this?

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Sixty percent of all Americans strongly want the country to change direction after nearly seven years of President George W. Bush's rule, according to a new opinion poll released late Sunday.

The survey by The Washington Post and ABC News indicated that only 24 percent of those surveyed think the nation is on the right track, and three-quarters said they want the next president to chart a different political course.

A new direction is wanted not only by Democrats, but also by three-quarters of Independents and even half of Republicans, according to the poll.

More than six in 10 called the war in Iraq not worth fighting, and nearly two-thirds gave the national economy negative marks.

Just wondering how you sleep when you have so many excuses to think up. It must be hard work cheerleading this administration these days...

I am a pacifist, so I would like to think "no, it is never justified".
But I have a hard time believing this. I know things like the death penalty is completely wrong, but then what about other situations. Lke with the guy who wanted to assassinate Hitler, but knew that it would be against his beliefs. If there are any of you who are absolutely for non-violence, I would like to hear your answer.

what would be the outcome? .. forget age and sex.. just go with the premise?
I wonder how many of the Armchair war folks would show up? .. I think you would see more protest from them than willing pawns..
I know I wouldn't go.. but I don't feign my allegiance to a false ideal...
That makes me honest.. anyone else wanna die for God and Country...or Oil Profits?

When MSNBC and CNN had their debates they asked tough questions that you would expect would come from the right.

For example, they asked Obama if her daugher should get special treatment with affirmative action despite being from a priveleged background. They asked Democrats if they would give license cards to illegal immigrants, knowing how rabidly anti-illegal most of America is.

On the other hand, Fox News did not ask tough questions to Republicans that you would expect would come from the left. Instead, they took an even more right-wing approach.

For examplke, Chris Wallace from Fox News told Ron Paul that he was "cow-towing to terrorists" for wanting to remove troops from Iraq. They were especially tough on Guiliani for not being socially conservative enough and Mit Romney for his possibly fake social conservatism.

Fred Thompson has a "staffer", Phil Martin, who is one of four campaign co-chairmen. Is this another example of the "blip" style of journalism on FOX, when something unflattering to their side is duly reported, once, and then discarded. Unlike the "drip, drip, drip" method employed when the "scandal" is attached to a Democratic candidate or progresive person, there will be no faux outrage, no in-depth investigations into the person's past, and no revelations that, for example, the large amounts of "illegal substances" glazed over was $30,000 worth of cocaine or the fact that Martin was on probabtion for the sale of eleven pounds of pot when he was busted for the coke as well as book making. I think details like that are important to so-called "values voters" and FOX is minimizing those unsavory facts to keep the tarnish off the Party.
Compare this to the continuing coverage afforded to the Clinton campaign when Sandy Berger was found to be consulting with Clinton What say you Y/A?

....why is EVERYTHING his fault?? I looked in vain to find the explanation for how he caused the recent earthquake in California. Oh well. I guess nobody is COMPLETELY omnipotent.
-
Did you all hear Harry Reid talking about the recent hemerrhoid epidemic? ....Bush's fault. There was a schoolyard fight yesterday. Bush's fault
-
Wasn't there something about how all the gunfire in Bush's war in Iraq caused global warming?
-
When Dingy Harry points that boney finger, do you think he looks where the other three are pointing? Isn't the credibility of "Blame everything on Bush and Iraq (and ignore how democrats sabotaged him every step of the way)" just about gone?

847 US troop deaths in 2007 so far.
4 more and we will beat 2004 as the dealiest year so far.

I hate these numbers because it shows how much some people will use pro-Bush Administration rhetoric to justify a war we never should have gone into.

Eventually you run out of things to kill. And now with a civil war between Iraq and Iran is this surgwe "working" with numbers like these?

I'm making reference to the party in power now which I still believe is the Republicans. What if you lose? I don't mean in Iraq because I don't think that is a win/lose situation. I mean solely in reference to socio-economics.
