Most moderates differ very little from party to party. I am a conservative democrat which means:

1. I know what to do with my money and don't want government to have more than they should have.

2. I don't want big government, and don't want them telling me what I can and cant do.

3. Government should be answerable to the people and not an entity unto itself. Congress gets automatic pay raises, and the poor working man, lucky to get one every couple of years.

4. I believe welfare should be very short term to help people get on their feet, and not have four and five generations on welfare.

5. Dont try to take my freedoms away from me. Too many people fought and died for these freedoms.

Most moderates follow these guidelines to some extent. As you can see, its not far right thinking and its not the liberal stuff we hear all the candidates in the party talking about. That is why I am looking at Fred cause there are no democratic candidates who are true moderates.

The democrats are politically where the Eisenhower republicans used to be. Contrary to what you hear on right wing radio and I suspect some of the answers you'll get to your question, the democrats, both the party structure and individual democrats are committed to the constitution and realistic planning for the future of our country. This isn't to say that a lot of republicans aren't....oddly, there are still a lot of Eisenhower republicans around...it's just that you don't find many of them among the current movers and shakers of the GOP. This is easily proved should you want to do so...or if anyone wants to do so...simply ask. I doubt if you'll find many red hot reds running around loose. Most people, while they may have a few hot button issues are generally practical minded and aren't interested in anything particularly radical. The followers of the Bush Junta make a big deal out things that really aren't...generally anyone, 'not them' is labeled a 'liberal' in some perjoritive sense of the word. Don't believe these guys....there are darn few of your fellow americans who 'hate-america' and wish for some kind of socialist utopia.....all that's ham-handed propaganda.

A moderate Democrat is one who is not far left and not far right but right down the center.

Bill Clinton was a moderate Democrat.

a moderate anything is someone that pulls from the center of a given issue. ...
Despite the constant blathering to the contrary Hillary is absolutely a Moderate as opposed to Kucinich who is truly Left of the current center.

Having said that Left and Right changes, right now we are very far right as a people so in fact Hillary is more conservative than say Barry Goldwater was in the Late 60's... early 70's ...who by the way she worked for.

I agree with Shylock.

I consider myself moderate--probably liberal on fiscal issues, and a bit conservative on social issues.

I am a Christian, but I don't think God is on the side of one political party or the other. And I don't think God is deeply concerned with "America's standing with Him." Our righteousness is like filthy rags to Him.

Those who accept Christ as Savior will be saved from judgment in the last days. Those who do not will not.

Ok, I believe a moderate democrat is a democrat who is not extreme in their democratic beliefs; more towards the middle-left on the political spectrum. They believe in democratic views, but are not as extreme as, well, extremists. I hope that helps, but it might be obvious from the question.

Honestly
A moderate democarat is now called a Neo-Con.
Or new Conservative.
New Conservative or formal liberal. Like Ronald Regan and myself.
Once I was a Liberal then I woke up and found out the liberals accuse the right of the very things they are trying to do.

I'm a moderate Democrat.

I believe in freedom, temporary help for those that need it, a balanced budget, and controls on spending with a priority for the working man.

Ok no jokes or BS

A moderate of any stripe is someone willing to examine facts, listen to reason, and compromise.

It really is that simple.
